I had lunch today at Pho 99 on Veterans Memorial and, after an excellent bowl of vermicelli w/ bbq pork, shrimp and eggroll, tried their red bean pudding (no ice cream on the menu, just pudding). It wasn't the most pleasant looking dessert, but it didn't taste bad. It consisted of red beans in coconut milk with seaweed jelly and crushed ice. The more I mixed the ingredients the worse it looked, but the taste was the same. I don't think I need to try this again. After this experience my curiosity was piqued so I decided I wouldn't delay trying the ice cream. After work I stopped by Ichibon and had their red bean ice cream. It looked like regular ice cream and was really good. Don't know if I like green tea or red bean ice cream better, so I'll just have to keep sampling until I come to a conclusion. The next trip to Pho 99 I think I'm going to try the durian milkshake.
